Congratulations, Cameron Miller!

He did the thing!

Cameron Miller has attained his Global Underwater Explorers instructor rating! Light the beacons, sound the gongs, and we’re not trying to stoke his ego, but Cameron earned every last bit of this through his hard work and commitment to the Alaska diving community.

His resume includes:

• Can teach Fundamentals, Doubles Primers, and Rec and Tech upgrades
• Looks great in drysuits
• Cave 2 and Tech 2 through GUE
• Unsettling-ly large collection of porcelain scuba figurines
• Piercing blue eyes
• Very, very good at scuba and teaching other people scuba
• Always smells like sandalwood

If you’re interested in taking a course with Cameron, call the shop today! Even if you just want to brush up on skills or spend some time on in-water evaluation, Cameron has you covered. In all seriousness, this is no small feat to get where he is, and regardless of skill level, time in the water with Cameron is time well spent for any diver.

Monthly Mixer

As is tradition, on the last Thursday of each month, we have our monthly mixer. Well, that’s this week. Put your dancing fins on and kick your feet up this Thursday, August 29th, around 6:00 PM, and enjoy food, friends, and maybe some new dive buddies.

Bring a dish or drink to share. Or don’t. We don’t care. We just want to see ya and say howdy.

October in August Sales Event!

Do we have DPV’s…? We have DPV’s!

Because everyone knows about the traditional October in August sales event, we are stoked to announce that come this October, Dive Alaska will be offering a variety of scooters available for you to rent and explore Alaska waters with.

To celebrate this, if you sign up for a DPV class before the end of August, your DPV rental is free (up to an $150 freebie, folks). There is no expiration on the course for those who choose to take advantage of this.

Divemasters!

Congratulations to Brian Johnson, Perry Zemke, and Michael Kim on completing their Divemaster certification! Through hard work and choppy conditions these guys killed it out at Fox Island!

Over the last few months, each one of these gentlemen have put in tons of hours and time underwater. It is obvious to see how far they have come in such a short time. Excited to have them as part of our professional staff.

GUE Tech 1 w/ Guy Shockey

Are you a GUE diver looking to take the next step, and extend your diving range? This January 23rd to 28th, 2020, Dive Alaska will be hosting a Tech 1 course with one of the most experienced cold-water instructors in the world, Guy Shockey.

Guy was the final sign-off on Cameron Miller’s GUE instructor evaluation, and this course is guaranteed to be one of the best diving courses you will ever take.

The course will be followed by two days of fun diving for all divers, of all experience levels, down in Seward, with some of our friends from the PNW!
