Want to learn how to deploy your Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) from depth? Whether you’re on a drift dive, alerting the dive boat to an emergency, or giving yourself an impromptu up-line, the PADI DSMB Diver Specialty course is for you.
If you’ve earned the PADI Junior Open Water rating or higher, and you’re at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the DSMB Diver course.
Your training starts by reviewing reasons you would want to deploy a DSMB while underwater. During two open water dives with your instructor, you’ll go over:
- Rigging a DSMB.
- Deploying a DSMB while underwater.
- Towing a DSMB while swimming underwater.
- How to use a DSMB during your safety stop.
DSMB Diver courses involve two training dives in open water over the course of one day, as well as an informal or formal classroom session:
