Name:
Jessie Lavoie
Position:
- PADI MSDT Instructor
Bio:
Borne on the sun-kissed shores of Lake Superior, water was in Jessie’s blood from an early age. A strong swimmer with cold-water as her second nature, Jessie works for a non-profit charity during the day, and teaches scuba by night. As a life-long Cleveland Browns fan, Jessie is no stranger to disappointment, which has served her well in her decade-long marriage to Dive Alaska’s Service Manager, Nick Lavoie.
Jessie is one of the longest-tenured instructors at Dive Alaska, and can toss around a set of doubles like they were made of balsa wood.
Diving Experience:
- PADI MSDT Instructor
- 1,000+ total logged dives
Specialties:
- Blurring the definition of a “triathlon”
- Still can run much farther than most Dive Alaska staff
- Purple flames
- Contagious optimism about diving conditions
- Staying positive in the face of challenging diving conditions
- Extensive experience diving safely in challenging diving conditions
Fun Facts:
- Jessie is married to Nick, and frequently mentions this, in the same way someone would remind their friend that their car is back at the shop again.
- Was against single-use plastics long before it became a popular movement
- Went to university to be a marine biologist, but has an inexplicable hatred of sea urchins. We don’t know why, and she won’t tell us.
