Time for some underwater pumpkin carving!

Do you want to hang out with local divers, maybe make some new friends, win some prizes, and watch your Dive Alaska shop-monkey, Ron, scream in frustration at a piece of produce while underwater?

Well, we do too!

Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time for some underwater pumpkin carving. Everybody knows that sharp objects and pumpkins go together like peanut butter and jelly, and we at Dive Alaska understand that the best (and definitely safest!) way to improve that combination is with some SCUBA.

Come out to Smitty’s Cove in Whittier on Saturday, October 28th for some food, drinks, diving, and the chance to win some Dive Alaska gift certificates and free gear for the best pumpkins!

Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Underwater pumpkin carving! That’s definitely going to impress my boss/girlfriend/husband/Twitter followers/pet ferret/etc. But where can I find dive gear?”

No need to worry; we’ve got you covered. One-day gear rentals for this event are only $75!

All you need is some carving tools, dive gear, a pumpkin (and you’re going to want to hollow that baby out ahead of time) and some creativity. Costumes are encouraged–and because we understand the value of looking good–in the event of a tie, preference will be shown to the better dressed diver.

Please RSVP on Facebook or by calling the shop so we can plan logistics ahead of time.

Tenative tunnel time for Whittier is 10:30, and two dives are planned; one for carving, and one for fun. Unless, of course, you’re a two-pumpkin kinda diver, in which case, you’re more than welcome to keep scuba-carving pumpkins all day (no guarantees that it won’t make the rest of us a little uncomfortable though).

Happy diving!
